Der Bwabwata-Nationalpark ist etwa 280.000 ha groß und liegt am Okavango-Fluss am Beginn des Okavango-Deltas auf der namibischen Seite. Im Norden liegt Angola und im Süden Botswana. Unser Zeltcamp liegt direkt am Ufer des Okavango und die Chalets haben einen Blick auf den Fluss. Das Zeltcamp wurde im April 2023 fertiggestellt und besteht aus den typisch südafrikanischen geräumigen Safarizelten mit Unterkünften zur Doppel- oder Einzelbelegung. Anreise über Windhoek Eros Airport nach Rundu - von dort ca. 2,5 Stunden mit dem Auto Richtung Osten zum Camp! Der Bwabwata National Park im Nordosten Namibias wurde 2002 errichtet und umfasst die ehemaligen Naturschutzgebiete des Caprivi Game Park und des Mahango Game Park.

Mit der botswanischen Regierung wurde ausgehandelt, dass dieser Park nicht durch Zäune eingegrenzt wird, weshalb es zu stetigem Wildwechsel kommt. Dies hatte auch zur Folge, dass die ansässigen Farmer kein Vieh halten dürfen, jedoch werden sie an den Tourismuseinnahmen beteilig

Die beste Reisezeit in der Caprivi-Region
Wie in der ganzen Caprivi-Region steigen im Oktober die Temperaturen bis über 35 °C, sonst herrschen Temperaturen von über 30 °C, lediglich im Juni und Juli ist es kühler. Abends allerdings kühlt es bis auf 7 °C ab. Wer Wild beobachten will, sollte vor allem im Zeitraum von Juni bis Oktober kommen, die meisten Vögel sieht man von November bis März. Die Regenzeit ist von Oktober bis April.
